Beatrice given advice after cat-flap hat

The Duchess of York got a stylist to help her daughter Princess Beatrice after the headpiece she wore to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton made headlines around the world.

The Philip Treacy creation, which was later sold on internet auction site eBay for charity, was compared to everything from a lavatory seat to a cat flap.

The former royal told Hello! magazine she partly blamed herself for the incident.

She said: “After the wedding hat thing, I realised that I wasn’t there enough to go around the shops, so I pulled in the help of [stylist] Charlie Anderson for a few weeks.

“I think it is important that Beatrice doesn’t get labelled as having a stylist because she doesn’t have one. She has done it all herself and has immaculate good taste but she was working so hard to get her 2:1 degree that she didn’t have time to go shopping.”

She said she did not “feel any bitterness” towards the News of the World despite being filmed accepting money from one of its reporters posing as a business tycoon in exchange for an introduction to former husband Prince Andrew.

She also revealed she is now debt free and said her former husband had come “in on his white charger” to help her.
