Best foot forward for fashion
With a flurry of colour, the stomp of many a stiletto and the flash of hundreds of cameras, London Fashion Week kicked off yesterday.
The first collection to go down the catwalk was that of British design duo Antoni & Alison. Gamely tottering down the catwalk, above, are models for the Marios Schwab show at Somerset House.
Designers, models and fashionistas from all over the world have descended on the capital for the biannual fashion week, one of the highest-profile fashion events in the world. It will feature more than 100 catwalk shows, which are expected to generate orders in the region of £100m and to contribute further millions to the London economy. One of the highlights is expected to be Stella McCartney’s much-anticipated return to London’s catwalks after using Paris Fashion Week to showcase her designs.
