Campaigners fight to save ‘Few’ pub
A WIDOW aged 97 is among campaigners calling on a Tory-controlled council not to call time on a pub where some of “the Few” drank during the Battle of Britain.
Developers want to turn The Plough in Shepreth, Cambridgeshire, into a house.
Resident Teddy Handscombe – whose parents Fred and Ellen Lee ran The Plough in the 1930s and 1940s – has urged planners at South Cambridgeshire District Council to reject the scheme.
More than 400 villagers, including Mrs Handscombe, have signed a petition calling for councillors to reject any housing plan for The Plough, which shut in January.
