On Monday, Kent Police said Ara and Arda remained in a critical condition at a London hospital.

Speaking to The Yorkshire
Post from the hospital yesterday, Mr Mosa, of Headingley, Leeds, said: “The children have improved.

“They are much better.

“Arda recognised me for the first time.

“She was laughing to me today.

“Ara is much better than before.”

Mr Mosa added: “The
children are improving. I’m sure I’m going to see them again at home.”

The accident happened soon after the family returned to
the UK from a holiday in
Europe and Kurdistan in northern Iraq.

An inquest opening at Folkestone Magistrates Court has heard Alin was a back seat passenger in the family’s grey Kia Soul car.

A post mortem revealed
Alin, who was a pupil at Kirkstall St Stephen’s C of E Primary School, died from multiple injuries.

Coroner’s officer Marion Hale told Central and South East Kent coroner Rachel Redman that the Kia Soul collided with a DAF lorry on the A20 just passed Saltwood near Hythe.

The inquest was adjourned pending further enquiries.

Witnesses to the accident are being urged to contact Kent Police on 01622 798538, quoting reference 29-0349.
