Children of Courage to be honoured

AWARDS RECOGNISING Yorkshire’s courageous youngsters will be launched tonight.

The Yorkshire Children of Courage event will be held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds in October, hosted by BBC Breakfast journalist Steph McGovern. The awards, now it its fourth year, was set up by the St James’s Place Foundation, to recognise remarkable youngsters and raise cash to help children facing difficult lives.

The Yorkshire Post is the media partner and will feature the inspirational stories of the nominated children over the coming weeks.

Tonight’s launch, at the Headingley Experience, Leeds, will feature entertainment from the Chuckle Brothers, Paul and Barry, who are ambassadors for the event, and past winner Bethany Hare, who won the Fundraiser award in 2011 for her Charlie Chaplin tribute.

A new group award will be launched at the event, which has been funded jointly by Headingley Experience, the chief executive of Leeds Rhinos, Gary Hetherington, and Secret Millionaire Terry George.
