Clocking up the miles for charity target

CAROLINE Sanders will certainly be clocking up the miles this year as she takes on a mammoth running challenge.

Miss Sanders and her partner Jemma Thomas, 28, of Harrogate, have set themselves the challenge of each running 100 miles of races and will take part in a number of 5ks, 10ks and half-marathons up and down the country throughout the year.

The 36-year-old, from Kirkstall, Leeds, has already signed up to take part in this year’s Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All Leeds 10k race as part of her challenge.

She competed in the event last year and says she wanted to do it again this year as Jane Tomlinson is a heroine to her.

“She was the absolute Yorkshire woman – brave, stubborn and hugely compassionate,” she said.

Proceeds from the 100-mile challenge will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. Both women have lost people they knew to cancer. More information and details of how to donate to their effort can be found by visiting the website: the200milemacmillanmadness.wordpress.com

This year’s Leeds 10k race is on Sunday, July 8. For more information visit www.forallevents.co.uk. The Yorkshire Post is a media partner for the Leeds 10k.
