Corden enlists friend to prepare for US chatshow debut

JAMES CORDEN is making his US chatshow debut in March and taking long-time collaborator Ben Winston with him to Los Angeles to work on the show.

The pair, who have known each other since they were teenagers, worked together on the Brit Awards and One Direction’s Best Song Ever video, which was directed by Mr Winston and featured Mr Corden.

The Late Late Show With James Corden will start on CBS on March 9 with Mr Winston as executive producer.

Nina Tassler, the chairwoman of CBS Entertainment, said: “We’re excited to begin CBS’s next chapter after midnight and introduce James’ wide range of performance talents and fearless creative instincts to American television viewers.

“He and Ben have been friends for a long time and partnered together on a variety of successful projects. They are a creatively dynamic and very energetic host/producer combination.”

Mr Corden, whose US profile received a huge boost when he won a Tony Award two years ago for best leading actor in a play for his starring role in the hugely successful One Man, Two Guv’nors, written by Hull’s Richard Bean, succeeds Scottish star Craig Ferguson who has been in the late-night chat show’s hot seat since 2005.

It was also announced today that Little Britain star Matt Lucas will host the International Emmy Awards in New York next month.
