Crash-injury driver wins £3.6m payout

The wife of a man left with devastating brain injuries after a careless driver smashed into his car has spoken of their relief after winning a multimillion-pound battle for compensation.

Andrew Chin, 39, was awarded the equivalent of £3.6m by a judge at Liverpool Crown Court who heard how he was thrown forward by the force of the crash in 2008 and smashed his head on the steering wheel.

The injuries sustained by the father-of-two, from Birmingham, were so severe he now faces a lifetime of painful rehabilitation, can never work and relies on his family for help with basic tasks.
