The German Shepherd cross, who is said to love cuddles, was found locked in the windowless vehicle in the Watford area of London, the Dogs Trust said.

As animal lovers, Valerie’s rescuers took her home for a night before taking her to Dogs Trust Harefield to help her find a new home.

Sian Fairle, supporter relations officer at Dogs Trust Harefield, said: “Valerie has had a pretty rough start to her short life but this hasn’t knocked her happy-go-lucky nature. She is a typical puppy who loves everyone and everything.

“She would suit a lively family who can offer her an active home with lots of exercise to try and use up some of her seemingly endless energy.

“Her favourite thing is definitely excitable cuddles and she absolutely loves meeting new dogs and people.

“Her bouncy nature means she would be better suited to a family with children over six years old but one thing is for sure, she’ll be a burst of energy for any lucky home.”
