Flights suspended at airport for 24 hours after ‘crash landing’

Flights have resumed at a Yorkshire airport after a “crash landing” suspended flights for nearly 24 hours.

The LinksAir flight from Belfast City Airport experienced issues while landing at about 7.30pm on Friday at Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster.

As a result all flights from the airport were grounded, including a host of European destinations and the party island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean.

Air investigators arrived at the airport on Saturday morning to inspect the aircraft that had problems with its undercarriage on landing. One person was reportedly taken to hospital for checks after the incident.

Flights resumed on the runway on Saturday afternoon.

A statement from the airport on Saturday said: “The UK Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) have visited the airport and the LinksAir flight, LNQ207, which experienced problems with its undercarriage on landing, has now been moved from the runway area.”
