Home of former Leeds director for sale at £1m

The former director of Leeds United was made bankrupt in 2009 and had a bankruptcy order against him extended to 10 years by a court in January.

Mr Morris’s five-bedroom home north of the city, is being sold by estate agent Manning Stainton’s Fine & Country team with offers of more than £1m being considered.

It is understood that nobody currently lives in the address in Ling Lane, Scarcroft.

Manning Stainton declined to comment of Mr Morris’s ownership of the property. The estate agent’s website has said that no upward chain would be involved in the sale.

The property, known as The Meadows, is described as an “imposing five-bedroom detached home situated...on one of Leeds most sought after lanes.”

The website also advises potential buyers that the gated property, which is located over 5,500 sq ft, requires “a cosmetic upgrade”.

The home’s leisure complex contains a swimming pool and Jacuzzi with the potential for new owners to created a steam room or sauna. The property formerly known as Ravensdene was valued at more than £1.5m when Mr Morris became the registered owner in 2006.

Mr Morris was one of the most visible and successful young businessmen in Yorkshire as he built up a property empire reported to be worth around £80m.

By the age of 30, Mr Morris had amassed a fortune estimated at £69m and was number eight on the Sunday Times Young Rich List. His SRM Holdings company and 36 of its subsidiaries collapsed into administration in October 2008 with debts in the region of £50m. He was made bankrupt a year later.

The Serious Fraud Office dropped an inquiry into Mr Morris’ business affairs last May on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
