If the crown fits... Royal drama nets more nominations
Claire Foy, who played the Queen in the acclaimed Netflix drama, was nominated for a second time as best actress and the show itself as best drama.
Miss Foy, who was brought up partly in Leeds, was reported earlier this year to have been paid less for her work than her co-star, Matt Smith, who was not on yesterday’s shortlist.

The list of nominations includes another royal figure, the future King Charles III, with the late Tim Pigott-Smith, who starred in a BBC film about the Prince of Wales’ accession to the throne, shortlisted as best actor. Sheffield-born Sean Bean is nominated on the same list for his leading performance in the BBC’s Broken.
And and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway is nominated as best entertainment show, in the same week Declan Donnelly assumed solo hosting duties following his partner Ant McPartlin’s arrest for drink-driving.
