New school on Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium site moves forward

Plans for a new academy on the site of the former Don Valley athletics stadium have moved forward after a contractor was appointed.

BAM Construction is to build the £14 million school for 1,200 pupils aged two to 16 on the landmark site in Sheffield.

The single building, which is to be completed within a year, will feature a four-storey secondary school, two-storey primary school and a central hub to be used for events. BAM has begun work on site and the school will open in September 2015.

We are looking forward to seeing building work begin, and ultimately, developing strong links with the community.”
