Police finally crack case of scotch egg theft

POLICE officers have finally cracked the case of a stolen scotch egg – two months after the £1.65 snack was stolen from a Co-Op store.

Officers from Avon and Somerset Police were mocked after releasing a closed circuit television image of the suspect wanted for stealing the scotch egg in Minehead on January 25.

The case triggered a flurry of jokes on Twitter, which were led by BBC presenter Jeremy Vine who said: “It’s all kicking off in Minehead.”

Chris Wright tweeted: “Got to nip it in the bud early, today its scotch eggs, tomorrow pork pies, pretty soon they’ll have a full picnic.”

Avon and Somerset Police officers, who insisted they took all reported crimes seriously, said the case had now been dealt with by way of “a community resolution”.
