Reservists in uniform march into day jobs as part of special day of celebration

The day celebrates the huge contribution that ordinary citizens make to the Armed Forces and thousands of dedicated reservists hung up their usual work clothes to wear their iconic uniforms.

L/Cpl Hastings, 30, of 4th Battalion Yorks Regiment and from Keighley, turned up in uniform to his job as a customer advisor for Natwest in Halifax.

He said: “I am wearing my uniform to make people aware, colleagues as well as customers, that people in all sorts of day jobs like me are supporting the Armed Services.

“Today I can also recognise and thank my employer for accommodating my TA career.”

Branch manager Kate Seaman said: “Michael not only provides a vital role to the Armed Forces, but the branch and organisation also benefit enormously from the transferable skills he has learned in the TA, particularly in decision-making, leadership and team work.”

Uniform to Work Day is one of a series of events intended to raise awareness of Armed Forces Day which takes place on Saturday, and celebrates all those who make up the Armed Forces family.
