Samantha Cameron in British fashion tribute

Samantha Cameron paid tribute to British design talent as she made a high-profile visit to London Fashion Week.

The Prime Minister’s wife joined celebrities, fashionistas and the international Press as some of the biggest names in British fashion unveiled their spring and summer 2012 ideas in the capital.

Downing Street said Mrs Cameron, an ambassador for the British Fashion Council, wore a Peter Pilotto top, trousers by Joseph, shoes by LK Bennett and an Anya Hindmarch coat for the occasion.

A spokeswoman for the Peter Pilotto collection, the work of British designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos, said they were delighted she had been able to attend their show.

“She has worn the label a couple of times to high-profile events – the boys love her and were very, very pleased that she was able to come. She is a big fan of British talent,” she said.

Mrs Cameron said: “London Fashion Week shines a spotlight on our talented British designers and I’m proud to see its reputation continue to go from strength to strength.

“These shows bring so many important global industry figures and business to our capital. It’s fantastic to see the impact the industry has on our economy.”
