A BRITISH soldier was killed yesterday by an explosion in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said.

The soldier, who was from 4th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, was on patrol in Helmand Province when he was killed by an improvised explosive device. His family has been told.
