Supermarket Easter egg puts luxury brands to shame in test of quality
The £7 Tesco Finest Belgian Milk Chocolate Egg with Cornish Clotted Cream Fudge and Honeycomb scored 82 out of 100 in the test, beating off competition from luxury brands including Rococo and Bettys.
GHI experts and tasters tested 68 different chocolate eggs ranging in price from £1.20 to £20.

Hide AdTesco’s egg won top marks for its “sweet, creamy chocolate”, elegant packaging and value for money compared with luxury brands.
Judges considered its availability as part of the retailer’s “two for £10” offer, making it a £5 egg compared to the £16 fifth-placed Rococo egg, the most expensive in the test.
Good Housekeeping consumer editor Caroline Bloor said: “The choice of Easter eggs on the shelves seems to get bigger every year, and you can spend a fortune on them too. But paying more doesn’t necessarily guarantee good value or chocolate that everyone will love.
“We think the winning Tesco egg not only tastes delicious but is a great size for sharing. Supermarkets have really stepped up their game, making eggs that rival the best branded offerings. Our top 10 included eggs from Tesco, Asda, and M&S.”
