UK hotter than Ibiza - but rain is on its way
But Britons should make the most of the weather while it lasts as it is set to turn cooler and more unsettled, with rain and cloud predicted for the weekend. Sun-seekers yesterday flocked to parks to enjoy the heatwave, which has sent the mercury soaring to well above average for this time of year.
Temperatures hit a high of 20C (68F) in Bournemouth, making it hotter than Ibiza, which could only manage 18C (64F), while much of the country enjoyed weather in the high teens. Helen Roberts, a forecaster with the Met Office, said: “It is above average for this time of year.

Today is expected to be another fine day with temperatures hitting the high teens. But a band of cloud is expected to send temperatures dipping at the end of the week and showers will hit at the weekend.
According to the Met Office, Yorkshire will today see fine and dry weather with bright, sunny spells and a maximum temperature of 17C, though it will be cloudier and cooler near the coasts. Tomorrow is expected to be fine and dry with bright or sunny spells, though there is a risk of showers on Friday and outbreaks of showery rain are expected to arrive on Saturday.
