Video preview: New bands line up for Leeds Festival

WAKEFIELD band the Runaround Kids could be performing to a capacity crowd at this year’s Leeds Festival, as organisers expect a sell-out.

Festival Republic said tickets for its sister event at Reading had already gone but some were still available for Leeds.

Indie rock band Muse are headlining the opening day of the festival, which is taking place as usual over the August Bank Holiday weekend at Bramham Park, near Wetherby.

My Chemical Romance take centre stage on Saturday before Pulp, nine years after they last played the festival, bring the three-day extravaganza to a close along with US rockers the Strokes.

Speaking prior to yesterday’s Press day, Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, said: “Leeds Festival is among the top four or five rock music festivals anywhere in the world and this year we have another incredible line-up.”
