Waste oil found dumped in rivers

A huge clean-up operation
was launched yesterday after more than 15,000 litres of waste oil was dumped in two waterways.

The Environment Agency said the oil was found in a tributary of Savick Brook in Mason’s Wood Park and at a second location near Eastway in Fulwood, Preston.

A spokesman said: “We are co-ordinating an emergency clean-up operation and working with our partners to minimise the impact.” He urged anyone who saw a tanker at either location to come forward.
