Woman cyclist killed in crash at roundabout

Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a woman cyclist was killed in the rush-hour minutes before another cyclist received life-threatening injuries in another incident.

The death was the fourth cycling fatality in London in the last eight days.

In the first accident, police were called to the Bow roundabout in east London at 8.47am yesterday following reports of a lorry colliding with a cyclist.

The London Ambulance Service also attended and a woman in her mid-20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the second incident, police were called just after 9am following reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a lorry on Millbank at the junction with Thorney Street in central London.

Police said the cyclist was believed to be a man in his 30s and his injuries were thought to be life-threatening.

Some roads in the area were closed following the incident.
