Youth remanded over child hit in face by thrown brick

A 17-year-old youth has been remanded in custody in connection with an incident in which a four-year-old girl was hit in the face with a brick.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with an attempt to wound after Jersey-Lou Perry was injured in her father’s van last week.

Police said a brick was thrown through the window of Kyle Perry’s van in Rutland Street, Grimsby, causing “horrendous injuries” to the youngster who was knocked out.

Her nose was broken, she lost two teeth, and had glass shards embedded in her face.

Mr Perry said the incident happened after he stopped to remonstrate with a group of youths after a ball hit his vehicle.

Court officials confirmed the youth was remanded in custody to appear at the town’s Youth Court next Wednesday.

Earlier, Jersey-Lou’s mother, Laura Mussell said Jersey-Lou did not talk for hours after the incident.
