Uncle charged over girl's death
The uncle of a 12-year-old girl who was strangled and stabbed to death was charged with her murder last night, police said.
John Maden, 37, was arrested when the body of Tia Rigg was found at his home in Manchester. Detectives had successfully applied for extra time to interview him yesterday.
Maden, of Dalmain Close, Cheetham Hill, will appear before Manchester city magistrates today.

Hide AdThe girl was found dead at the property in Dalmain Close after a 999 call around 3.45pm on Saturday.
A post-mortem examination concluded that she died as a result of ligature strangulation and abdominal injuries.
