Under starters order

EDIBLE hats made from Yorkshire Puddings proved a sure bet when they enjoyed their first outing yesterday.

The first day of York’s Dante race meeting gave York Racecourse Hospitality the chance to show their racecourse uses more locally produced food.

Asparagus farmer Ronda Morritt, from Sandhutton, naturally had a hat with an asparagus twist while berry farmer Annabel Makin, from Garforth, opted for strawberries. Yorkshire Cheese was worn by Judy Bell, of Shepherd’s Purse. Keith Stewart, of York Racecourse Hospitality, said: “We use more local produce than any other racecourse in the country.”
