Underground celebrations

Vicky Turner celebrates with cave explorer Dave Nixon in the Fairyland cave, found in 1926, as three centuries of mining Blue John stone at Castleton's Treak Cliff Cavern, in the Peak District, were marked underground yesterday.

Ms Turner, whose family have run the cave for four generations, was also celebrating Treak Cliff's 75th anniversary as a show cave. Yesterday a party and cake-cutting ceremony took place.

Ms Turner said: "It's a very special year for us, and we want everyone to join in the fun."
