Unexplained death: Police name man whose body was found near Selby farm

Police have confirmed the identity of a man whose body was found near a farm in Selby last weekend.

North Yorkshire Police had said it was investigating the "unexplained" death after the man was found in a ditch next to a field near Mill Field Farm in Hull Road, Osgodby, on Sunday.

An appeal was issued on Monday evening as efforts to identify him continued.

Now investigators have named the man as 51-year-old Christopher Sowden.

A spokesman today said: "Officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances around Mr Sowden’s death and would like to thank the members of the public who responded to the appeal."
