Unfairly sacked consultant’s health misery

A CONSULTANT unfairly dismissed from her job at a Yorkshire hospital saw her health deteriorate so badly she was reluctant to leave the house and relied on family members to perform everyday tasks, an employment tribunal remedy hearing was told yesterday.

Tomasz Gniadkiewicz spoke of how he regularly drove from Poland to the Leeds home of his sister, Polish-born physician Eva Michalak, after she was dismissed from her job at Pontefract General Infirmary in July 2008 in the wake of five years of harassment from bosses after she left work to have a baby.

The former major in the Polish Army took over cleaning, shopping and cooking tasks because she rarely left the house following her dismissal by Mid Yorkshire hospitals trust and could not even follow simple instructions. The tribunal continues today.
