United action heads off the rowdies

AntI-social behaviour in the Lower Valley area of Calderdale has fallen by a quarter.

Police have reported a 25 per cent reduction – 196 fewer incidents – in rowdy and inconsiderate behaviour in the past six months compared to figures the previous year.

Inspector Mohammed Nawaz, who is in charge of the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said: "We have actively encouraged our communities to report anti-social behaviour incidents to us, so to see reductions is a great achievement.

"This is a great example of how a multi agency approach to dealing with community issues can work. The support of the community and partner agencies has been invaluable.

"I am urging our local residents to remain vigilant and report anything that is impacting on their quality of life. We will then do everything in our power to address their concerns."

He urged residents to attend local Police Contact Points and Partner and Communities Together (PACT) meetings to speak with local NPT officers.
