University hails graduates’ job prospects with nine out of 10 finding work

GRADUATES from Hull University have some of the best employment prospects in the country, according to new research.

Nine out of 10 are in work or advanced study within six months of graduating.

Figures published by the Higher Education Statistics Authority show that 93.2 per cent of graduates from the university are in gainful employment or study shortly after graduation, compared to a national average of 90.3 per cent.

More than 70 per cent of these students are in graduate-level work, drawing an average salary of £22,465.

The university said its success rate was largely because of the work of its award-winning careers service, which aims to work with students early on in their university life and brokers opportunities for them to meet with graduate employers on campus and support their career planning.

Graduate employment manager Kristian Rumble said: “These figures show that graduates from the University of Hull are competing for – and landing – jobs. We like to work with students from very early on in their studies to educate them about what employers are looking for, and through the internship scheme companies are benefitting from their skills and talent.”
