Police were called at 4.40pm yesterday (Monday, November 2) and the road was closed until 6pm leading to traffic jams across the town.

The driver of the black Seat Leon was taken to Harrogate District Hospital after the crash, suffering from minor injuries.

Heavy fog had made visibility very poor across the district and police urged motorists to take care while driving in difficult conditions.

The Met Office has forecast mist, cloud and some fog across the district over the next few days, but it is not expected to be as foggy as yesterday.

Witnesses are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room. Please quote reference NYP-02112015-0386.
