UPDATE: Sheffield man appears at court charged with weapons offence

A Sheffield man has appeared at court, after police executing their stop-and-search powers found him to be in possession of a knife.

Craig Cleary, 39 of York Road, Rotherham was found to be in possession of a knife while on the Wicker.

Officers said they had 'cause' to stop-and-search Cleary.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "He was arrested and charged with unlawfully possessing a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place contrary to s139 Criminal Justice Act 1988. He was also wanted for Breaching a Court Order in April 2017.

"He was remanded in police custody to appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court on Saturday 28th July 2018."
