UPDATED: Man and woman arrested on suspicion of murdering Wombwell pensioner

Police investigating the death of 65-year-old John Gogarty at Wombwell have this morning arrested two people on suspicion of murder.

A 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested from a property on Mont Walk in the Wombwell area of Barnsley.

A 48-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of Mr Gogarty’s murder on Tuesday, remains on police bail.

Officers were called to a house in Marsh Street, Wombwell, at around 4pm on Friday where they found Mr Gogarty’s body

South Yorkshire Police have revealed Mr Gogarty died of multiple stab wounds.
