Police were called to Cholmley Street, west Hull, at about 6.20pm on Sunday following a disturbance in which a 33-year-old man suffered serious head injuries.

They said a man managed to “evade arrest” and by 3.55am yesterday he had taken up position on a roof.

The man injured in Sunday’s disturbance was yesterday in a serious condition at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Three men, two aged 19 and another aged 18, were arrested in connection with the incident prior to the end of the stand-off. They have now been released on bail pending further inquiries.
