Vaughan lines up slog on Great Wall of China

Vaughan, who spent some of his childhood years in Sheffield, has been a supporter of the cause for more than a decade and aims to raise money for a new piece of surgical equipment.

The ex-Yorkshire batsman will be joined by his wife Nichola and a 20-strong group of family and friends in the walk, which will help buy a £250,000 intra-operative surgical navigation system.

Launching the effort yesterday, Vaughan, who lives in the Peak District, met 11-year-old Lauren Raybould, who would have benefited from the system when she suffered a life-threatening growth on her brain.

He said: “Having met some of the bravest, most courageous children I know at the hospital I am really motivated to raise as much money as possible through this challenge.”
