L/Cpl Beharry was born in Grenada. He was awarded the Victoria Cross in 2005 after saving the lives of his colleagues twice in 2004 while under heavy rocket fire in Al-Amarah, Iraq. He has also served in Kosovo, and Northern Ireland.
