One of the most heavily traffic-lit roads in Britain was said to have run more smoothly after a malfunction saw them all go out.
Grovehill junction in Beverley, which used to be a five-route roundabout, sports a chaotic road layout of 42 lights and is dubbed the “red light district”.
But after all 42 went out on on Tuesday morning, residents say the traffic is running without problems.
Peter Robinson, 78, has lived on the junction since 1969 and said the road has been blighted with traffic problems ever since the lights were installed in February this year.
Peter and his wife Wendy, 73, say the lights went out yesterday at about 9:30am and remain out this morning.
