Scientists documenting animal life in a remote high-altitude Peruvian forest used hidden cameras to film the Andean ‘spectacled bear’.
The footage provides the first hard evidence of the species’ presence in the reserve, which is 100km from its closest known location. Teams from the Universities of Exeter and Glasgow, along with scientists from Peru, set up 22 cameras in March this year and left them in place until last week.
