Video: Did Scarborough police jump a red light just to get to McDonalds?

A DASHCAM video has emerged which appears to show a police van jumping a red light before parking up at a McDonald’s.

The video, filmed in Duslow Road, Scarborough, on Thursday lunchtime, was passed to the Scarborough News.

The driver of the following vehicle, who did not wish to be identified, said: “The van was sat at the lights and then just pulled out to turn right.

“It’s lights did not come on, neither did the siren.

“I followed round the corner and could see it pulling into Morrisons and then I saw them just sat in McDonald’s car park.

“If any other driver jumped the lights like that they would have been fined.”

Police vehicles are allowed to drive through red lights only if they are responding to an emergency call.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We have informed the Command Team at Scarborough and also Professional Standards.

“It would not be appropriate to comment further until all of the facts are established.
