Video: Dog’s eye view of Whitby’s Goth Weekend

AS winds swirled around St Mary’s Church and whipped across the swing bridge, Whitby’s Goth Weekend was at risk of becoming a washout.

But one dog at least had a whale of a time, as photographer Marisa Cashill strapped a go-pro camera on to her dog for a unique view of events.

Fewer people were reported in the town than at previous festivals. Graham and Debbie Stobbs of Dewsbury, who have attended the last ten annual Goth Weekends, said it was the worst weather they had known.

But there was still a party to be a celebration of the goth culture and scene to be had with John Stoker of Garforth adding “people will come regardless”.

And, the weather brought a boost for businesses with people rushing in to take cover.

Len McKnight, Elsinore pub landlord, said: “The rain does bring the punters in but they would be here anyway. It’s not too quiet, we are doing alright and it is a good atmosphere.”
