Video: Ellie Goulding hugs tiny busker singing her hits in Sheffield city centre

A young fan, thought to be from Sheffield, was seen singing the pop star’s smash hit On My Mind at the top of Fargate on Saturday afternoon.

Miss Goulding, who happen to be walking by, spotted the schoolgirl and spent time watching on in delight.

The Love Me Like You Do songstress was driving through the city before her sell-out gig in Sheffield and was clearly impressed by what she saw.

The 29-year-old pop sensation - who is playing Leeds Arena tonight - later left fans starry-eyed in the latest performance of her Delerium tour at Sheffield Arena on Saturday night.

The video, captured by Sheffield dad James Sockett, praised the pop star for taking time out to appreciate the schoolgirl’s efforts.

Ellie even stopped for a chat and gave the adoring fan a hug.

Mr Sockett, 31, from Ecclesall said: “I was stood with my daughter watching a little girl sing in town on the corner of Norfolk Street while her dad stood on watching - she was singing Ellie Goulding - On My Mind.

She finished then all of a sudden out of a van jumped this woman who started talking to her and said ‘You’ve just been singing my song - it was really good’ - it was Ellie Goulding!

“Her dad then put the song back on and the little girl, star struck, sang it for her again!

“After she’d finished she again said how good she was again, put some money in her collection - jumped back in the van and on her way - all in the space of five minutes!

It wasn’t set up that I could see as there was only about two or three people watching.

You could see how genuine Ellie was and how she was enjoying it. It’s nice to see the celebs taking time out like this to see their fans.”

The little singer’s identity is currently unknown.
