Video: A flipping great half-term as Sheffield beats world pancake record

SHROVE Tuesday may be a week away, but today Sheffield University students gathered for a spot of pancake-tossing in an attempt to break a Guinness world record.

Participants, including university staff and families from across the city, gathered at Endcliffe Village halls of residence for the “Big Flip” event, which successfully broke the record for the most pancakes being flipped for 30 seconds.

A total of 933 potential record breakers were each given a 21cm frying pan containing one pancake. They then had to toss their pancakes continuously for 30 seconds without dropping them.
