Video: Freed Chilean miners descend on Leeds

THREE of the 33 miners rescued after spending two months underground in Chile last year were in Leeds today in support of sick and terminally ill children.

Luis Urzúa Iribarren, Samuel Avalos and Juan Carlos Aguilar began their visit to the city with lunch at the Flying Pizza restaurant in Roundhay.

They were going on to attend the Make A Dream charity’s annual gala dinner - their first official speaking engagement since they were rescued from a collapsed copper and gold mine in San Jose, Chile.

Earlier this year the miners signed a movie deal and were accompanied in Leeds by representatives from Hollywood.
