This year’s Beyond Limits exhibition, which opens tomorrow, features a selection of critically-acclaimed late works by British sculptor Barry Flanagan. It will run for six weeks, finishing on Sunday, October 28.

A spokesman for Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, said: “His characteristic bronze hares, represented in a variety of guises, will be installed throughout the gardens in playful counterpoint to the grandeur of their surroundings.

“This new exhibition is expected to draw art lovers including visitors from America, Asia and the Middle East where Flanagan’s work is avidly collected.”

The sculptures will be on display from 11am to 6pm every day. Normal garden admission charges apply.

Meanwhile, a rare Renaissance drawing by Raphael that has been in the collection at Chatsworth for centuries is to be sold at Sotheby’s in December, the auction house has announced.

The Duke of Devonshire said its sale, along with two 15th-century illuminated manuscripts, would “benefit the long-term future of Chatsworth and its collections.”

Sotheby’s has estimated the black chalk drawing, Head of an Apostle, at between £10m and £15m.
