Video: Inside York’s finest Georgian townhouse, with Harry Gration

THE splendour of York’s Fairfax House, the country’s finest Georgian townhouse and originally the winter home of Viscount Fairfax, is today back on show after it was shut for six weeks of deep cleaning.

Staff at the 18th century house, including senior steward Garry Fearn, above, have been busy dusting and polishing to be ready. Director Hannah Phillip said: ‘It has been a lot of hard work but we are very excited about the re-opening – the house is gleaming.’
