Video: It’s December so Christmas pudding’s here today, scone tomorrow

A FRUITY festive favourite has made its way back on the menu at one of York’s most poplar tearooms this month.

Smothered in home-made brandy butter, the Christmas pudding scones served at the tearoom of National Trust Treasurer’s House were an instant hit when they won a competition to find a new scone flavour in 2009.

And now the attraction is offering a mouth-watering Christmas pudding experience, complete with a three-course lunch and, of course, mulled wine as the city marks the start of the festive season with the St Nicholas fayre.

Treasurer’s House catering manager Mel Goddard said: “Christmas truly starts at Treasurer’s when the smell of our famous Christmas pudding scones first drifts from the ovens and fills the house.

“Customers and staff alike are always tempted by a little taste of Christmas with one of these scones smothered in home-made brandy butter.

“Great for a quick break from the crowds or even better with a glass of warming mulled wine.”

The lunches, served in the traditionally decorated tearoom, are priced at £25 per head and will be available between December 5-19, excluding Sundays.
