Video: I’ve got the world’s biggest collection of Daleks - but I don’t like Doctor Who

THE world’s largest collection of Daleks is in Doncaster, in the hands of a man who doesn’t like Doctor Who, according to the latest edition of Guinness World Records.

Rob Hull, 49, is recognised for having the largest collection of the Doctor Who baddies, with a staggering total of 571 models.

His hoard, which includes a 6ft life-size replica model, is the product of 20 years of passionate collecting, even though he is not interested in the show.

Mr Hull said: “I’ve never been a fan of the show, but I have been enchanted by the Daleks ever since I saw one in a toy store as a child.

“My mum wouldn’t buy it for me, but I swore at that moment that I’d have my own one day.”

He said he bought his first Dalek at the age of 29 and since then they had slowly taken over the house.

But his 43-year-old wife Dawn will not be celebrating her husband being the newest record holder.

She said: “I hate the bloody things and I’ve got a feeling this is only going to encourage him.”

Another bizarre record that features in the 2012 collection has been achieved by Uchida Geinousha’s Super Wan Wan Circus, based in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.

It offers audiences a unique spectacle - the incredible sight of 13 dogs skipping on a rope.

The main dog handler at the circus said: “It actually started by accident one day when Mayonnaise, an incredibly curious poodle, started to try and skip with us.

“She clearly really enjoyed it and we decided to get the other dogs involved. It’s become part of their playtime.”

Reverend Darrell Best, of Shelbyville, Illinois, USA, will also be celebrating his title for the fastest wedding chapel after converting his 1940s fire truck into a wedding chapel on wheels.

The wedding chapel entitled The Best Man, allows lovers to tie the knot while they are on the road and is capable of reaching speeds of 62mph.

Rev Best, who has married more than 40 couples in the vehicle, said: “It allows them to get married in any environment they want. Sometimes they don’t want to get off the vehicle so it’s the bride and the groom, the two witnesses, and the minister all in the sanctuary on the back of the truck. It can get pretty intimate.”
