Video: Leeds choir in good voice ahead of 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Leeds community choir Inspiration was in good voice ahead of taking to the stage at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The choir, which meets and rehearses at Pudsey Civic Theatre on Monday nights, will be performing four gigs in Edinburgh as part of The Fringe.

They will be singing in the city’s largest cathedral, St Mary’s, at St Cuthbert’s Church, at the large visitor attraction Dynamic Earth and will be the first choral group ever to have been allowed to perform around the Royal Scottish War Memorial in Princes Street Gardens.

Around half of the 300 strong choir has made the journey up to Scotland from Leeds and treated the Yorkshire Post to a special rendition of Jerusalum before geting on the coach at West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Inspiration performs three times a year with the Orchestra of Opera North to sold out houses at the Town Hall, as well as lots of school singing workshops and charity fundraising events at hospitals, hospices and churches.

And the choir has already raised more than £5,000 for Help for Heroes, it’s chosen charity for 2012.
