Video: London to Bradford by train at 2,660mph (in your dreams!)

THIS is the way train travel should be: London to Yorkshire in six minutes flat.

The reality may be some way off, but for one railway operator, camera technology has at least made a virtual 2,660mph journey possible.

Inspired by the BBC’s black-and-white footage of the London to Brighton steam run in the 1950s, Grand Central, which operates services between West Yorkshire and the capital, has commissioned a new version.

It charts the 1448 from Kings Cross to Bradford along 221 miles of route, from the cab of an Alstom Class 180 high speed diesel multiple unit built in 2001.

Grand Central managing director Tom Clift said: “We thought people might like to see something like this again. The hope is that this new film will capture the imagination and appeal to a wide audience.”
