Activists waving banners calling for an end to zero hour contracts could be heard shouting “Tories not welcome” and “no return to Victorian Britain under the Tories”.

The group descended on Dean Clough Mill in Halifax, where Theresa May is marking the launch of her party’s 2017 manifesto.

A statement on a Facebook page advertising the protest says: “We want to hold Theresa May and the Conservative Party to account - for the worst crisis our NHS has ever faced, for the biggest drop in living standards for the majority, for threats to our pensions, for allowing employers worsen conditions, pay poverty wages, and give no security to workers, for drastic education cuts.”
